Advancing the digitalization of public transport

In the public transport plan of the Harz district, it is established that digitalization is an essential pillar for improving transport services. Therefore, one part of the "harzbewegt" project focuses on equipping bus stops with DFI systems. These are digital display boards that provide passengers with real-time information.

Which 200 of the total 1200 bus stops will be equipped with such DFI systems is currently being decided. At the end of July 2024, on-site visits took place at the main hubs – bus stations and train stations – in Osterwieck, Ilsenburg, Thale, Blankenburg, and the World Heritage city of Quedlinburg. The responsible parties from the district and municipalities, along with the consulting firm PPMnet, were present.

The goal is to procure the first DFI systems by the end of 2024 and begin installing them in the towns and cities starting in March 2025. At the same time, the selected bus stops will also receive barrier-free access.
